Club 13 - Coolest Saturday Night Going Out Place In Barcelona

Filed under: Barrio "Gotico", Bars, Eating — kasper @ 4:15 pm

Just a picture... to lighten up all this text!!!

I think that if there is a place you can always go and hang out at, it is Club Trece in Plaza Reial. Even if you just want to go and hang in a bar and get a drink, or you want to go and eat at the cozy restaurant, Club Trece is a good answer to your prayers. Though in the summer time they very often sell out, and ride the hip-hop and RnB wave that attacks Barcelona with the tourists every summer. But at this time of year Club 13 is having a pretty cool scene for foreign electronica DJs, and furthermore have a Sunday “electronica Post-Resaca” session with Electronica DJs such as Angel Fernandez (bcn), Mitja (slov) and Gaelle (fr).

But otherwise I would say that Saturday is the day to go to Club Trece if you want to party with a cool party crew in Barcelona. The bar is not one of the cheapest ones, but you do not want to go there before 12.30 or 01.00 anyways, so if you’re in a tight financial spot, grab some drinks at home or start out at Princessa 23, where the drinks are cheaper…

Some general facts/ideas:
When you go there they will send you down to the basement, where they have 2 areas with different kinds of music. Sometimes the room on your right, when you’re comming down the stairs, is very smokey, which is quite stressfull for the eyes… I mean VERY smokey… even now after the smoking prohibitions. The toilet is up the other sets of stairs you will see those at the foot of the “entry” stairs at the area where you leave your jacket!

Hope you will enjoy ;)

2007 Sonar Festival Accommodation Barcelona

Filed under: Cool:, Barrio "Gotico", Barrio "El Borne", Barrio "Raval" — kasper @ 10:09 am

Sonar Festival 2006

Barcelona, Sonar Festival 2006 accomodation: Apartments, Hotels, Hostels or even renting a tent! The Barcelona Sonar festival 2006 of electronic music. House, techno and chill out music, loads of international DJ’s performing, and multimedia projections take over Barcelona for a week in the middle of June. Two parts make out this festival: Sonar by Day and the Sonar by Night .

The Sonar by Day is held at CCCB, MACBA, Centre d’Art Santa in the Raval district of Barcelona. The Sonar by night takes place in the Hospitalet de Llobregat - Fira 2.

Foreigners from all over the world come to Barcelona to experience this unique festival. If you are an advanced music fan, do not miss the Sonar festival .

But the big question appears every year… Where the hell is it possible to find a place to sleep in those days? Barcelona goes crazy during Sonar festival and hotels are fully booked, apartments goes to the highest bidder, and people sell tents for people to sleep in parks or on the beach…

So… My recommendation would be to get my finger out the belly button and find a place right now… Look at Cheap Accommodation Online they have affordable accommodation online.. under 30 euros a night guaranteed!

Other online accomodation sites are Sleepsi or Apartmentsi ! Good sites but more expensive, and higher level.. they call it sleep 4 star for the price of 3 stars. They sell excess capacity of hotels, getting special negotiated prices… pretty cool!

well.. good luck with the hunting guys… see you at the Sonar Festival 2006!!!

Andu Wine Bar in Gotico

Filed under: Uncategorized, Cool:, Barrio "Gotico", Bars — kasper @ 7:31 pm

Andu Winebar

One of the definately coolest bars in the gothic quarter is Andu! When I moved to Barrio Gotico 2 years ago me an my friends went looking for a nice place to have as a regular bar nearby…. the first place we went to was Andu! We already then knew we did not have to continue our search! But did so as it was the theme of the night!

Why go there:
Andu has a very cool atmosphere, if you would like to blend in with the local bohemes this is the place… a lot of crazy artists go here regularly! Furthermore the owners Lee and Brendan are always making sure there is a cool and cozy (hmmm dont know how well those two words fit together…) ambience with cool music, drinks, and some of the best guacamole with pita bread and humus in town….

How:
Andu bar is found at Correu Vell (click the link, and a map will pop up in a new window!)

Some of the most wellknown are Pez, Freaklub and Miss-Van! the following is some of their work! My personal favourite is without doubt Miss-Van, (as you can see from my numerous photos of her work) who paints volumptous erotic girls! Please click the thumbnails to get a proper view at the pics!

B n’ B Bikes

Filed under: Cool:, Tours, Barrio "Gotico" — kasper @ 12:05 pm

BnB-Bikes

This is a bike and scooter tour operator that offers fun, health and learning experience rolled into one… but what really matters… those bikes are awesome…. especially with their choppers you’ll look really cool browsing slowly through town! They also offer tours of barcelona on the funny looking segways, which are a bit nerdy, but hey…. for you lazy guys out there…. it’s an alternative! Another cool thing about BnB Bikes are that they offer night tours…. now that is cool, sliding though Barcelona by night on a chopper…. and no…. it aint cool doing that on a segway ;)

BnBBikes

BnB Bikes also sell bikes, so it is possible to live the live of a real bohemian on a cool chopper bike from BnB Bikes..

Alternatively you can rent bikes alone, and some of the standard packages are as follows:

  • 9 Euros for 3 hours
  • 15 Euros for a whole day
  • 2 hour tour of BCN is 15 Euros

So it seems that even the prices are cool!
