Mercado - Cool Designer/ Art/ Gadget Shop

Filed under: Cool:, Barrio "El Borne", Special Shops — kasper @ 9:23 pm

Mercado del Borne

One of my absolute favourites in Borne is the newly opened ”Mercado” (which means “market”). As Mercado puts it themselves:

“Mercado is collective initiatives, institutions and companies from all over the world which aims to bring to Barcelona an unusual selection of products within the realms of graphic art, street art, design items, fashion, homeware, utilities, music, videoart, gadgets, stationary, books, magazines, prints, collectables and everything else that creates a deeply emotional experience between creators and the public.

The goal of the Mercado is to move beyond what people do and why they do it in the first place, bringing to life powerful stories that connect artists to artlovers, collectors and consumers in general.

I would warmly recommend to go and check out this shop, whether that be for a gift, something nice for yourself ;) , art or just to be inspired…

You’ll find Mercado at Carrer del Comerc 7 (maybe 6)

Sans & Sans - Tea Shop

Sans & Sans

A beautiful little tea shop in Borne at Carrer de L’argenteria! This shop smells so great, that you just have to visit… and you’ll be put back in time for at couple of hundred years! The shop is designed in dark wood, and 100’s of little cabinets and shelves full of tins filled with tea from all over the world! The people in this little tea shop are very kind, and will guide you to find the tea that suits you. And the fact that you don’t have to buy a big bag at one time is also very nice… did I tell you about the aroma, that you can smell up a few blocks at L’Argenteria? Well a nice smell like that is never, I stress NEVER unwelcome in Barcelona ;)

Princessa 23

Princessa 23

Princessa 23 is mentioned mainly because our dear Camilla used to work there and pamper us with the best service possible! But now that she is gone, the place should be mentioned for its inexpensive Mojitos! Furthermore a range of other drinks are on special offer at different times of evening/night!

Mojito

Why go here?
Princessa 23 is a great place if you’re fed up with your constant inter cambio with Spanish people, and just need to relax and meet other expats (mainly students from Italy, Germany and the States!) Nice place to meet people with the same interests as yourself!
but don’t go here to meet Catalan people… and of course…. if you want to pay as little as 3 Euros for a mojito or Caipirinha, and 1,50 for at beer …..maybe its not the best mojito in town… but its a great warm up!

Intro

Barcelona is wellknown for its street art… and with good reason! Some of the coolest artists are decorating the streets of Barcelona. Some of the most wellknown are Pez, Freaklub and Miss-Van! the following is some of their work! My personal favourite is without doubt Miss-Van, (as you can see from my numerous photos of her work) who paints volumptous erotic girls! Please click the thumbnails to get a proper view at the pics!

At the moment i do not seem to have anything by Pez, but I will get them on as soon as possible!

There might be a ton of great artists out there, and if you think I missed something, pleases leave a comment! But if you’re interested in more graffiti or street art from Freaklub and Miss-Van, Ill post the stuff under Graffiti!

Looking forward to hearing your comments!
